Le Friquet Hotel Guernsey.
A Fishy Tail.
Our Food and Beverage manager Phillip had a call put through to him he wont forget in a hurray. A lady asked him “do you do gold fish?”.

Phil asked her to repeat and then presumed she must have said “cold fish”. He then proceeded to tell her that we specialise in fresh Guernsey Lobsters (that can be served cold) which are kept in a large tank but was interrupted with the immortal lines “where do you think I'm going to keep a lobster at home? I don’t want a pet lobster, my tanks not that big, I want gold fish!”.

Poor Phil, the penny dropped, the lady thought she had called the Friquet Garden centre (which has an aquatic pet section).

The misunderstanding ended well, with everyone seeing the funny side . . . including us.
The Lobster and Grill Now Open
With a mixture of relief and trepidation we opened our new Restaurant, Bar and Lounge as planned on March 23rd and it's been non-stop, flat-out and full-on ever since!

One satisfied hotel guest recently post on TripAdvisor: “The food in the restaurant is fantastic and we particularly loved the Clam Linguini which we had almost daily! We live in London and have access to first class restaurants and were very impressed by the whole dining experience”.

With a live Lobster tank on display in the Restaurant its perhaps not surprising we have served over 2000 lobsters including one of the biggest our Chefs have ever seen weighing in at 7.5lbs!
Guernsey # 1 Cruise Destination
Did you know that Guernsey is Europe's largest cruise liner tender port with 107,000 passengers coming ashore in 2014.

This year there will see 120 cruise ships arrive off St. Peter Port, the largest being the "Anthem of the Seas" carrying an almost unbelievable 4,900 passengers. In contrast, the smallest cruise ship scheduled to visit is the "Hebredian Princess" with just 49 passengers. More my cup of tea!

It Takes Some Planning!
Very few people will be aware that for the past 12 years Le Friquet Hotel has provided catering for the Combined Services Dinner to mark Remembrance day in Guernsey.

Planning has already begun for this years event to be held on Saturday 7th November. This prestigious, charitable event includes the Queens representative in Guernsey (the Island's Governor) and senior representatives from the Armed Services. Its held in the Hall of Elizabeth College, a local boys school.

Guernsey Regimental Silverware from Guernsey Museum is "borrowed", Uniforms (some now a little tight) are worn and we create an atmosphere of a grand dinner in the Officers mess.

There is no kitchen so we adapt the nearest classroom arriving at 10am and finishing after midnight, with everything transported there and back including food, cutlery, crockery, glassware . . . and staff.

Its a great night for all concerned and we are proud of our long standing association with this prestigious event.
