Wow! That's it, all “standard”rooms on both the first and second floor have now been professionally redecorated under the watchful eye of our Interior Designer. In fact they are now so good we think they deserve a better name than “standard” . . . any suggestions?

We are very fortunate in Guernsey to have an Archipelago of Islands that you can visit easily during your stay with us. Herm, Sark and Alderney are all unique in size, scenery, history and lifestyle.

They all have traditions that date back many years and have been protected from the modern world. One such tradition is a drink only available in Alderney and only available on the first Sunday in May, every year, its called Milk-O-Punch and we thought you might like the recipe.


1 Litre Guernsey Milk
2 Free range Eggs
A pinch of Cinnamon
A pinch of Nutmeg
20oz Caster Sugar
100ml Rum

Very simple to make, just whisk the eggs until frothy and add the rum and sugar. Put mixture over boiling water and continue to mix until the mixer leaves a trail.

In a separate pan bring to the boil the milk with spice. Pour the milk onto the rum/egg mix and serve straight away.

Enjoy! (any day if you're not in Alderney).
Our Greatest Assets - Recognised
The Hotel Industry is not always viewed positively when it comes to careers and there is a perception that all Hotels have a high turnover of staff.

We aim to change that perception and to prove it we have just held our Long Service Staff award ceremony to recognise the loyal staff who have worked for us for a minimum five years.

Proudly boasting the longest service was our locally born Head Chef Ian Carre with over 20 years and he was presented with a beautiful engraved crystal bowl. Housekeeping, Restaurant, Kitchen and Reception were all represented. You may even have met some of the recipients during a previous stay.

Congratulations to Ian, Odete, June, Fernanda, Raimond and Lucky who also received personally engraved crystal glassware. They have all contributed to the success of Le Friquet Hotel.

We don’t like to boast (?) but we are extremely proud to have recently received two Awards from one of the worlds biggest online booking agencies. has confirmed we now hold the “Top Clean 2013” award along with the “Top Overall Ratings” award. As Venere say, “These awards are exclusively determined by Venere users feedback and only 5000 out of 135,000 properties across the world have received them”.
